Mitsuru is a very polite girl who can appear emotionless and doll-like.

Mitsuru seems to have feelings for Shinji, but it turns out that she is actually his twin sister.But by the end of season 2 she seems to have accepted this and only looks up to Shinji as a younger sister.

- The name Mitsuru means "beautiful" (美) (mi) and "crane, stork" (鶴) (tsuru).
- Mitsuru's surname Kotokura means "say" (言) (koto) and "warehouse, cellar, magazine" (蔵) (kura).

- Mitsuru is a very good cook and she is good at housework.
- Mitsuru has the power to create invisible barriers.
